What is a DOP? IGP?

Po Valley Foods offers many Italian products which have earned either IGP or DOP designations.

"Indicazione Geografica Protetta" or IGP is a guarantee that the product originates from a region whose quality, recipe and characteristics can be traced back to its geographic origin and at least one process or phase of production occurs in the region of origin.

The more stringent “Denominazione di Origine Protteta"or DOP Is a guarantee the product is from the designated area and that its production and processes result in final product of the highest quality and integrity. Each process and phase occurs in the region of origin.

Either of these designations is a guarantee of the products authenticity.
